Get ready to kick off the weekend with an evening packed with fun, friends, and excitement because guess what? From this week onwards, Friday Frenzy is back and better than ever! 🌟
What is Friday Frenzy?
Friday Frenzy is a youth group specifically designed for school-aged children and young people. To make sure everyone has a great time, we’ve split the sessions into two groups based on age:
🏫 Primary school group: 4PM-6PM
📚 High school group: 6:30PM-8:30PM
Ready to join the frenzy? All you have to do to register is scan the QR code or swing by our reception to grab a registration form. We’d appreciate a gold coin donation to help keep the fun going! 🎉🙌

SPARK Conservation and Ecosystem Management Taster Program

SPARK Conservation and Ecosystem Management Taster Program

SPARK have collaborated with the Canberra Institute of Technology (RTO:0101), The Umbrella Collective and the Ginninderry Conservation Trust, to deliver an innovative accredited training program focused on skills development and field experience within the Conservation and Ecosystem Management sector. This program will introduce participants to career options and the range of vocational pathways including Australian Apprenticeships.

Targeting people living across the Canberra region who are 17 years of age or older and have completed high school/college, this SPARK program includes:

  • Prepare to work safely in the construction industry – CPCWHS1001
  • Prevent crystalline silica exposure – NAT10830001
  • Identify and report asbestos containing materials – NAT11084001
  • Contribute to workplace health and safety processes – AHCWHS302
  • Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases – AHCCHM307
  • Transport and store chemicals – AHCCHM304
  • Control weeds – AHCPMG301

Commencing Wednesday 30 April 2025, this 9 week program will run three days per week (Wednesday – Friday, 18 hours per week), and provide a combination of theory, practical hands on learning, experience operating machinery, and live training within the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor. Please note the program will be delivered at 2 locations – CIT Bruce and Ginninderry.

SELECTION CRITERIA

 

Places may be available under the ACT’s Fee-Free TAFE program for those that meet eligibility criteria. Fee-Free TAFE is a jointly funded initiative of the ACT and Australian governments.

Interested individuals must meet the following criteria: 

  • be at least 17 years of age and not enrolled at school or college
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent Australian resident, or eligible VISA holder 
  • be living or working in the ACT.

 

INFORMATION SESSION 

 

An information session will be held on Wednesday 2 April 2025, 11am – 1pm at UnitingCare Kippax, Corner of Luke Street and Hardwick Crescent, Holt ACT.

The information session will provide individuals with advice on program content, eligibility criteria and the commitment that is required to be selected as a participant on this program. It is mandatory that all individuals seeking to be on the program attend this session.

This is a two-part session broken into:

  1. an information presentation followed by
  2. a selection session for eligible individuals.
