It is good to be back this week – and it was good to have had a week camping down at Mystery Bay watching whales head past every day. An important time of rest, relaxation and refreshment.
Last Sunday we commenced a season of faith and justice. Did you know that the word used in scripture that is translated as “righteousness” and the word that is translated as “justice” is the same word? This week is Anti Poverty Week, and the relationship between our faith and matters of justice and action around poverty will be our focus in all three service. We will be thinking about poverty locally, about poverty globally and hearing a story or two about experiences of poverty. What is the act of devotion that God is seeking from us … ?
Please also be aware of two important gatherings taking place over this weekend as we live out of righteousness-justice.
On Sunday at 1pm there is a “Stand Up for Refugees Rally” in Garema Place
Over the weekend and into next week, “Voices for Justice” is gathering here in Canberra. As part of that, on Monday night Micah Challenge is hosting a prayer vigil starting at Queen Victoria Terrace, Federation Mall at 730pm and then heading up the hill to Parliament Lawns at 8pm
You are warmly invited to be part of the rally and part of the prayer vigil as we stand in prayer and “do justice together”
Finally please remember that this week is Erin Miller’s last week with us here at Kippax. Erin is our Administration and Communications Co-ordinator here at Kippax and has been with us for nearly 6 years. There is a morning tea this Friday at 1030am You are invited to come and be part of the time as we wish Erin our best in love and prayers as she moves to Melbourne. Please feel free if you havent already done so, to drop her an email – firstname.lastname@example.org – to say thank you for her ministry with us at Kippax
I look forward to seeing you again this weekend
