Hannah’s weekly message

This weekend (Feb 15) we celebrate Transfiguration Sunday, remembering the mountaintop moment when Jesus “changed” and the disciples experienced God’s presence in an amazing way! When have you had a “mountain top moment” like this?

Sunday is also National Day of Prayer and Fasting – you are encouraged to pray, and invited to continue this commitment over the forty days of Lent.

In fact, Kippax will be focussing on prayer throughout our Lent worship services and in our small group discussion times. How do we pray? What is prayer? How can we regain a practise that is core to who we are? For more information and to sign up to a small group for Lent, email hannah@kippax.org.au.

5-7pm Sunday night is the Death Cafe – held in co-operation with Palliative Care ACT. Thank you to those who have registered – we are fully booked!

Tuesday Feb 17 we have our Pancake Day morning tea at 10am and supper at 6pm (including food games!)

Our Ash Wednesday service is on Wednesday Feb 18 at 7.30pm. Join us in this contemplative service led by Jill Robertson, as a way of marking the beginning of the Lenten journey.

On Feb 22 we have an evening with Johnny Huckle, a great local singer – exploring Indigenous Spirituality and his music. It will be a wonderful night. Make sure you book, by calling reception on 6254 1733.

And of course coming up on Feb 28 we have the next Garage Sale. More details are available from Rob Day and James Fenn. Hopefully you are gathering your ‘stuff’ for others to be able to re-use. Helpers still needed for the garden stall and setup on Wednesday Feb 25, and picking up items on Thurs and Fri Feb 26/27. Please email garagesale@kippax.org.au

Finally, just a reminder that Gordon is on leave until Feb 23. Any Kippax enquiries can be emailed to: erin@kippax.org.au
