Gordon’s weekly message

Street view Kippax

As the season of Advent contrast continues, we are getting ready for what is to come.

Did you check out the Kippax website this week?

Advent reflections will be posted on the Kippax website www.kippax.org.au. Each of the reflections will have two contrasting responses. These reflections aim to give an opportunity for response no matter where you are in life at this time of year. This week’s reflections reflect on hope in hopelessness.

How are you feeling as we approach Christmas?

This Sunday we light the second candle of Advent and explore peace in conflict and reflect on the conflict in our lives and the world around us. How might we find unexpected peace in the midst of all this?

Coming up, Wednesday December 10, 8pm Blue Christmas is a special time of peace and reflection for people approaching this Christmas in grief or without a loved one.

Sunday December 14, A Very Kippax Christmas. Come dressed up as something, preferably from the Christmas Story! Scripts are available on Sunday at Kippax, or here: A VKC 2014 script for circulation. Come and join in the fun of the Christmas narrative: it promises to be a great time together.

Christmas Hampers are overdue! If you took one home, please bring it back. These hampers will assist more than 2000 people. We’re looking to buy extra hampers this year to ensure that all families in Canberra have the support that they need. Can you please return your hampers this weekend. Financial donations can also be made through our website – www.kippax.org.au/donate-or-volunteer or in person. Volunteers are still needed to help distribute the hampers. Email stuart@kippax.org.au or see the volunteer roster on the glass doors at the entrance to the Auditorium. Spread the word – word of mouth, Facebook, Twitter, however else you can. #GiveaChristmas, #givingbox2014. Thank you once again for your generosity with this appeal.

Thank you to all who helped at the Kippax Family Advent Workshop and the hamper packing this week, and thank you in advance for those who will act as Christmas elves.

See you all this weekend as we light the candle of Peace.
